Winpak Heat Seal is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Finance team based out of Pekin, Illinois.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the plant’s financial operations, with a primary focus on accounts payable, invoice processing, vendor management, and account reconciliations. You will work closely with departments across the facility, as well as vendors and service providers, to ensure transactions are processed accurately and financial records are maintained in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized accounting professional who enjoys working independently while supporting a collaborative manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice entry, coding, filing, and processing for purchase order and non-purchase order transactions.
- Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure accuracy and proper authorization.
- Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account information.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs, wire transfers, and employee expense reimbursements.
- Support the preparation of annual 1099 filings for qualifying suppliers.
- Participate in month-end and period-end close activities, including recording accruals for goods and services received but not yet invoiced.
- Complete bank and other account reconciliations, including clearing checks against daily bank activity and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare freight-related transactions and other accounting entries, and communicate missing information or variances to the appropriate departments.
- Prepare schedules, analyses, reports, and supporting documentation for internal and external auditors, as well as other ad-hoc financial requests.
- Support compliance with internal controls and applicable accounting requirements under IFRS and United States generally accepted accounting principles.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with accounts payable, invoice processing, account reconciliations, and general accounting activities.
- Knowledge of internal controls and their application within financial processes.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, identify discrepancies, and follow through to resolution.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience working with an enterprise resource planning system.
- Experience supporting month-end or period-end close activities.
- Experience preparing audit documentation, reconciliations, financial reports, or similar accounting schedules.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or plant finance environment.
Additional Details
- This is a full-time position based out of Pekin, Illinois.
- This position is 100% onsite.
- The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance team and departments across the manufacturing facility.
Compensation Range: $48,000 - $55,000
The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
