Electro-Mechanic Technician

Winpak is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanic to join our team in Pekin, Illinois.
As part of our Maintenance Team, the Electro-Mechanic will troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role will also support the installation and calibration of new equipment and contribute directly to achieving the facility’s operational performance goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Calibrate, install, troubleshoot, and modify electrical/electronic controls for all production machinery and facility systems.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed safely, accurately, and documented via work orders.
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures and promote a culture of workplace safety.
- Troubleshoot AC/DC motors, drives, and speed controls.
- Coordinate repair activities with other trades (mechanical, millwright, etc.) and assist with basic cross-functional maintenance tasks.
- Perform maintenance during scheduled shutdowns and as required during off-shifts or weekends.
- Interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical drawings to identify and correct issues.
- Support the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and participate in equipment upgrades and reliability initiatives.
- Perform all duties in compliance with Winpak’s safety standards, WHSC certifications, and company policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical/electronic equipment.
- 3+ years of experience with AC/DC motors, drives, and speed control systems.
- 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical diagrams, and ladder logic.
- 3+ years of experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- 3+ years of experience ensuring compliance with safety standards and LOTO procedures.
- Strong aptitude for machinery and applied problem-solving.
- Fundamental understanding of applied mathematics and science as they relate to industrial equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma or certification in Electrical or Electronic Technology.
- 3+ years of experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and relay logic systems.
- 3+ years of experience maintaining or repairing converting or packaging equipment.
- Millwright or Industrial Maintenance certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or packaging environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move throughout the facility to diagnose issues and perform repairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to work at elevated heights using steps and ladders.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and manual work required.
- Must be physically able to perform hands-on repair tasks.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a manufacturing facility, which may include exposure to moderate temperature changes, noise, dust, and typical industrial hazards such as moving equipment and overhead objects. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and provided by Winpak.
Additional Information:
- Compensation range: starting at $37.87/hour
- This position is 100% onsite in Pekin, Illinois.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs
