The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a talented and accomplished science professional to join the research team at the Center 4 Health Research as a Research Associate II. This full-time, in-person position will help to coordinate research initiatives and projects across campus.Position Summary
This position conducts research by assisting with the collection, entry and cleaning of data and descriptive results.
The Research Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director to coordinate and support the center's research projects and related activities. This role involves managing the daily operations of research projects, ensuring they are conducted efficiently, ethically, and in full compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols.
- Collect, process and analyze data. Summarize research and test results.
- May assist with study protocol development.
- Coordinate the ordering, inventory and maintenance of equipment, instruments and data collection and analysis tools.
- Prepare and contributes statistical data and pertinent information for papers, grants and other documents.
- Complete required documentation for regulatory agencies.
Project Management:
- Coordinate and manage the logistics of research projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and timeline management.
- Assist in the development of study protocols, consent forms, and other research-related documents.
- Ensure that all research activities adhere to institutional, federal, and state regulations, including IRB requirements.
- Monitor the progress of research projects, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Participant Recruitment and Management:
- Coordinate the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of study participants.
- Manage participant communications, including scheduling visits, follow-ups, and addressing inquiries.
- Ensure that participant data is collected accurately and securely, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Data Management and Data Analysis:
- Oversee data collection, entry, and maintenance to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and manage project databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Perform data analysis, develop tables, figures and analysis reports for presentations.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and submit IRB applications, amendments, and continuing review reports.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure all research activities are compliant.
- Coordinate audits and site visits by regulatory agencies or sponsors.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders involved in the research projects.
- Facilitate communication among research team members, ensuring that all parties are informed of project developments.
- Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field required.
- A minimum of one year related research experience.
- Knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- MPH or MSc in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research or in any public health field
- Proficient in SAS or R statistical package
- Data management, analysis and data reporting experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in research coordination or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management software.
- Experience of working on several statistical packages
- Knowledge of artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools and their applications
- Experience of working on publicly available large datasets
