Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) is searching for a Clinical Associate to provide leadership support in the management of Undergraduate Medical Education Simulation on campus. This position will take on a variety of administrative, academic, clinical, and educational responsibilities under the supervision of the simulation director. The Clinical Associate will work closely with faculty and content experts to plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate simulation-based curricula and programs. Additionally, they will assist in overseeing the training of Standardized Participants for both clinical simulations and procedure-based simulations in undergraduate medical education. This role will be located on the Peoria campus within the Office of Academic Affairs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Director of Simulation and course directors, will develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive undergraduate medical education (UME) simulation program across preclinical and clinical education.
- Work closely with the UME administrative leadership and course directors to ensure simulation programs meet the requirements of curriculum, including SP (Standardized Patient) training standardization across the curriculum.
- Inter-professional collaboration with: (1) simulation teams across the University of Illinois system and represent UICOMP, UME simulation and (2) JUMP simulation on simulation programs delivered for UME at UICOMP.
- Collaborate with Director of Simulation on program evaluation of the UME programs, identify and address faculty development needs.
- Organize and maintain a simulation curricular map/calendar for students within UME.
- Directly oversee the logistics and implementation of each simulation session, including orienting students, faculty, and staff. Provide just in time training/education for SP.
- Serve as point of contact for the Director of Simulation, coordinating collaborative efforts with various campus units, external agencies, committees, and testing services at meetings and orientations.
- Participate in the administration of educational research studies including mentoring learners.
- Assemble and assist with project proposals, including project budgets; generates and maintains project reports as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 2 Years Experience in Simulation Curriculum
- Excellent communication skills; written and oral
- Excellent organizational skills and project management
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to those with degrees or experience in Clinical Simulation Education, Education, Human Factors, Instructional Design, or related clinical fields\
- Previous educational experience in undergraduate, graduate or health care related fields
- Proficiency in Data Analysis and training experience.
This position will be based at the Peoria campus (170 miles southwest of Chicago, Illinois), supported within the Office of Academic Affairs.
