The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department. This position will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying and advertising.
PAY IS BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND BEGINS AT $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 PER YEAR.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them
- Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments
- Work with the service manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs
- Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department
- Attend manager meetings
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that may affect parts sales
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all parts department staff
- Direct and schedule the activities of all parts department employees
- Provide technical assistance to department employees
- Conduct meetings to discuss problems and develop strategies for a more efficient operation
- Handle customer complaints
- Establish and enforce a pricing policy that balances volume, customer loyalty and the cost of doing business
- Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence
- Establish individual parts inventory levels and balance them for maximum turnover
- Set and enforce a policy on special ordering parts
- Develop and administer an aggressive wholesale parts program to produce profit
- Direct outside parts and counter sales efforts
- Coordinate a prompt, efficient and timely flow of paperwork
- Monitor daily reports and sales productivity
- Develop and produce lost sale tracking report
- Enforce safety requirements, including forklift training, MSDS Sheets on product control
- Monitor the percentage mark up on parts obtained locally
- Assist on collection of past due accounts
QUALITIES FOR SUCCESS:
- 5 years of parts manager experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience with GM preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend instruction and information
- Excellent communication and managerial skills
- Some sales experience
- Will be trained on dealership computer system
- Ability to operate the department profitably within dealership guidelines
- Professional personal appearance.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

- Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:30pm
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- The compensation for the Parts Manager begins between $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year
