Fiber Splicer Technician. Work Location: North and Central Illinois. Stratus Construction is hiring Splicers for Peoria and Rockford, IL. Role: Perform fiber optic splicing and testing for new and existing customers; ensure reliability and efficiency of network infrastructure. Required Skills/Abilities: Splice loose tube/ribbon fiber including mid-sheath; test/troubleshoot fiber using OTDR; access manholes and hand holes; use ladders; follow safety techniques and incident reporting; proper splice construction (grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, sealing); perform work per TIA, RUS, and customer standards; enter/maintain/exit splice enclosures; install fiber in conduit; terminate, test, troubleshoot and maintain fiber networks; strong attention to detail; overtime and on-call; valid driver’s license. Experience/Education: HS diploma or GED; one year of splicing experience preferred; read/follow engineering maps; intermediate MS Office; ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail; strong communication and teamwork; must pass drug screen and background check.
