The Technology Purchasing Specialist’s primary role is procuring hardware and software product from sales opportunities for RSM’s Technology clients. The opportunities will come from internal consultants, sales staff and directly from the client. Product knowledge and overall understanding of procurement is required. This role will ensure products will meet client requirements and time frames. They will ensure accuracy of orders and pricing. They will work with consultants and clients to relay availability and tracking information. Work with team to ensure knowledge transfer and cross-training. Work with vendors to learn about potential pricing options and special promotions.
Responsibilities:
Technology Purchasing Specialist duties may include but are not limited to:
- Processing orders
- Ensures products are purchased in the most cost- and time-efficient manner
- Updating client/consultant
- Serve as a mediator during disputes between vendors and consultant/clients
- Source product for best price and availability
- Process Returned Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs)
- Work with vendors and distributors to obtain RMA approvals
- Evaluate and report on distribution and manufacturer performance
- Work with Technology Solutions team on special pricing requirements
- Follow-up with vendors and distributors on backorders
- Provide input, creative solutions, and ideas to the management team and IT consultants on product offerings
- Help to streamline and improve processes to increase efficiency
Relationship Management duties may include but are not limited to:
- Learn pricing programs
- Work with distributors to take advantage of potential programs to reduce cost and drive margin
- Develop relationships with the distributors and direct buy manufacturers
- Maintain contact information for distributors and vendors

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in purchasing preferred
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS
- Basic understanding of computers and computer systems
- Ability to work within a team atmosphere
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management and organization skills
EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years of purchasing experience

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $49,800 - $79,200
