This position is responsible for leading and managing a Tax Engagement Support Services (TESS) team and is responsible for the decision-making and management functions within the team to ensure that developed processes and procedures are followed, workloads/schedules are balanced, and project deadlines are met. This individual will work closely with the TESS Director to execute the COE strategy and provide input on policy and process improvement. Responsible for identifying best practices and efficiency opportunity for the TESS and working closely with regional and market tax leadership to provide quality and consistent support throughout the center in accordance with line of business and national RSM policies.

Essential Duties

1. Provide input to and executes on the strategy and priorities of TESS as defined by Tax and Enterprise Support Services leadership.

  • Provides input on resource forecasting to the TESS Director during the annual budgeting process.
  • Consistently strives to generate new ideas and improve efficiencies as the COE evolves and identifies areas ofautomation and improvement through technology, reporting and data analysis.
  • Communicate and lead change management efforts across the COE.
  • Gains buy-in from necessary stakeholders
  • Ensures successful outcomes for TESS team members and line of business

2. Oversees all tax processing for the TESS COE.

  • This includes working with the TESS Director, tax operational leaders and key stakeholders to define and set goals, schedule resources, and review deliverables that support the business and taking appropriate steps to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for managing a team across multiple locations, including providing supervision, guidance, development, and training as well as monitoring volume and resources across the enterprise.
  • Coordinate with other TESS Manager Leads to monitor volume and facilitating necessary adjustments to align experience and industry or technical expertise with client priority.
  • Monitor schedules to ensure resources are utilized effectively; reviewing available resources and facilitating necessary adjustments are aligned with experience, industry expertise, technical expertise and client priority.
  • Deploy resource management plan developed by TESS Director and facilitate applicable training to address the requirement of peak season.
  • Coordinate with the TESS Director to determine staffing needs and participate in interview process and selection of new team members
  • Provide input on development of TESS specific orientation and onboarding training and materials
  • Deliver onboarding training of TESS systems, processes and procedures for applicable line of business new hires.

3. Manage multiple or complex projects and develop stakeholder relationships to ensure business needs are met.

  • Collaborates with Front-End, Delivery and E-filing managers for future COE development and as needed on a go forward basis to develop, adopt and implement standardized practices in these areas Ensure projects are delivered on time, and various risk / issues are recognized, ensuring quality and consistent support and products.
  • Utilizes E-file system to monitor and release external client tax returns to the taxing authorities, ensuring correct returns are released and all filing deadlines are timely met. Tracks for acceptance, transmission errors and rejections and resolves as appropriate
  • Manage project risks/issues and ensure the teams are compliant with the various documentation and sign-offs required for the practice.
  • Recognize and determine appropriate corrective action to ensure minimal risk.
  • Escalate as necessary to TESS Director.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations with respect to acceptable turnaround time on client deliverables.
  • Implementation and adoption of standardized processes and improvements within the tax processing COE to ensure effective and efficient services are provided and contribute to the overall success of the COE and firm.

4. Provides effective leadership and serves as career advisor to various team members as assigned.

  • Actively shares knowledge, trains and mentors COE team members
  • Communicate performance expectations, and provide feedback on performance, recognition, coaching and critical conversations.

Compensation Range: $87,800 - $162,200
