Position Purpose
Under managerial oversight, supports the administration of the company’s financial accounting function. Ensures the accurate recording of expenses and other transactions. Prepares financial statements and other internal or external financial packages. Implements new accounting guidance to ensure compliance with statutory or GAAP accounting standards. Provides financial analysis and support for internal and external contacts. Aides in the facilitation of the annual budget process. Acts as a mentor and help guide lower level financial accountants on the team. Manages and oversees special projects as assigned.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Generates financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually while meeting external filing deadlines and requirements.
Lead implementation for new accounting guidance to ensure compliance with statutory or GAAP standards.
Facilitate and prepare schedules and exhibits for external filings.
Provides variance, root cause, and financial analyses for internal and external contacts.
Drive process improvements and ensures consistency of processes across the department by utilizing fact-based and forward-looking perspectives to identify emerging issues and current trends.
Act as a mentor and help guide lower-level financial accountants on the team.
Leads in special projects and other duties as needed.
Education & Experience
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; CPA preferred
4+ years of related experience
[OR] equivalent level of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
Ability to use analytical methods in accounting processes to understand relationships, check facts, and find creative yet workable solutions.
Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to management on accounting matters, both task oriented and project based.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Ability to research complex issues and communicate findings and recommendations to management on accounting matters.
Ability to adhere to processes and controls.
Ability to provide leadership and guidance to others within the accounting department.
Compensation Overview
The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future.

$85,486.00 - $124,595.00Total Rewards
