Position Purpose

Under general management, the Product Owner oversees the IT development for defined programs/initiatives within our commercial transportation product line, ensuring that IT solutions are delivered accurately and efficiently. Responsible for translating business strategies into discreet projects and then into detailed requirements that the IT teams can digest and deliver to. They are also responsible for providing clear acceptance criteria and have the final say in signing off on delivered functionality.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees the IT operational duties and procedures for the commercial transportation product group.

  • Develop efficiencies and process improvements for the commercial transportation group.

  • Defines and conveys the vision to the team in order to address business requirements to ensure a successful product based on business value.

  • Drives the creation of and the ongoing health of the product backlog. With the team’s Scrum Master, co-leads grooming of the product backlog and ensures the backlog is correctly prioritized based on business value.

  • Responsible for ensuring the Scrum Master and development team are focused on the right priorities during the development process. Primary point of contact for questions from the team and is empowered to make decisions.

  • Provides clear detailed requirements and acceptance criteria to the IT delivery team

  • Accepts delivery of working product from the Scrum Team. Socializes the delivery of business value and outcomes of the iteration to the stakeholders and clients.

  • Leads in special projects and duties as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related field

  • 6+ years of related experience for consideration

  • Deep understanding of commercial transportation is strongly preferred, but not required

  • P&C insurance knowledge is required

  • [OR] equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

  • Must be well organized, methodical, and detail oriented.

  • Possess strong analytical skills and ability to define business cases.

  • Flexible and adaptable in an evolving environment, including willingness to learn new processes and serve as a champion for improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others.

  • Experience delivering software solutions in an Agile environment preferred

Compensation Overview

The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future.

Base Pay Range

$77,025.00 - $109,145.00
