Position Purpose

RLI is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) of IT Solutions Delivery to lead the design, development, and support of enterprise systems that enable our core insurance operations. Reporting to the Vice President of IT, this role serves as a senior technology leader responsible for overseeing solutions delivery across multiple domains and driving modernization efforts that align with business priorities. The AVP will play a critical role in shaping technology strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and building high-performing teams that deliver measurable business value.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead Enterprise Solutions Delivery: Direct teams responsible for designing, building, and supporting enterprise applications and platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, and alignment with business needs.

  • Drive Modernization: Guide the adoption of modern technologies, methods, and architectures to improve speed, efficiency, and flexibility of delivery.

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with business and IT leaders to define technology roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that advance organizational strategy.

  • Program Leadership: Oversee large, complex programs and projects, balancing resources, costs, and timelines to achieve high-quality outcomes.

  • Operational Excellence: Implement processes that simplify operations, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance.

  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop IT leaders and professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Financial Stewardship: Manage budgets and investment planning for assigned delivery areas, ensuring effective use of resources.

  • Change Leadership: Champion technology transformation and help drive organizational adoption of new tools, systems, and ways of working.

Education & Experience

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with direct accountability for software development, solutions delivery, or enterprise system implementation.

  • Experience in P&C insurance IT environments preferred.

  • Demonstrated success leading modernization initiatives and delivering measurable business outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

  • Broad expertise in IT solution delivery, software development, and enterprise systems and platforms.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and technology transformation.

  • Proven ability to partner with business leaders and influence at executive levels.

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term execution.

  • Track record of developing and retaining senior-level IT professionals.

Compensation Overview

The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future.

Base Pay Range

$164,552.00 - $244,360.00
