Position Purpose
As a Surety Underwriting assistant, you will be working with the team in order to support underwriter needs, business processing, and service goals for our producer partners. Day to day activities will generally include working directly with your underwriting team to support their premium production goals, providing support to our agent and broker partners, and working with your team to support both business processing and specialty program needs.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Provide support for your national underwriting teams, assisting with duties in and around the underwriting process.
Provide support for your sales regions, assisting with marketing and sales efforts.
Provide support for your key agents and brokers, assisting with specialty programs and generally ensuring that we are “the easiest” market with which to conduct business.
Create and issue new and renewal bond documents, ensuring systems of record are properly updated.
Assist the broker, the bondholder and the obligee with bond term transactions, such as bond endorsements, riders, cancels, broker of record updates, etc.
Research and help resolve billing and account current discrepancies.
Assist with underwriting (electronic) file maintenance and underwriting audit support needs.
Assist the Surety Department by identifying and implementing improvements to our key systems and workflows.
Limited lines of authority may be granted to assist with the underwriting of new and renewal accounts.
Education & Experience
Associate's degree preferred. Must have completion of a high school education or its equivalent and more than 4 years of experience in a similar position. Experience in Surety, Insurance or Financial Services preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
Ability to interact professionally and work well in a high-performance team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in all mediums to include phone, e-mail, and in person.
Ability to work independently and perform quality work within deadlines.
Ability to develop and maintain procedures.
