Join an elite and highly skilled team specializing in the design and build of custom powder handling products for the pharmaceutical industry. Our products are used to safely, reliably, and efficiently manufacture life-saving medicine around the world. Our shop is in the same building as our office space, so you can watch your designs come to life 50 steps from your desk at the hands of some of the best Fabricators and Technicians in the area. Role Summary: The Lead Design Engineer reviews designs, coaches on design quality and feasibility, and serves as the knowledge source for team member questions. As a proven individual contributor, they complete high priority design work for projects and R&D initiatives, developing and improving Rheo’s products. Objectives: · Take Product Family ownership—pushing for both design efficiency and product fit/finish. · Lead design review meetings – individual and team. · Serve as the main point of contact for all design-related questions for your Product Families. · Review and approve models and drawings for your team before release for production · Aid in completing design work by: o Working with design team resources to develop machine and system concepts o Researching new technologies, industry processes, and relevant compliance regulations/guidelines o Sourcing components and building a bill of materials for complex machine assemblies o Assembling system design drawings o Performing simple FEA analysis on structural assemblies o Producing engineering drawings for parts, weldments, and assemblies o Working with theoretical calculation tools to determine static and dynamic force requirements o Drafting and assembling project documentation packages (Operation and Maintenance Manual, etc.) Success in This Role Looks Like: - Development of products that innovatively and effectively solve the problems of our industry - Consistent development of Design Engineers on your team - Timely and accurate review and approval of models and drawings for your team Minimum Qualifications: - Ability to work on-site at Peoria location 100% - Education: - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field - Software: - Proficiency in a 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor is preferred) - Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) - Experience: - 7+ years of product design experience - 5+ years of 3D CAD experience - Traits: - Excellent mechanical aptitude and analytical skills - Superb Communication – Understandably and naturally get your ideas across - Detail Orientation – High attention to detail and highly organized - Delegation Skills - Proven ability to effectively delegate tasks & track their progress - Extreme Ownership – Ability to see a project through from beginning to end, no matter the obstacle - Self-Motivated – You take initiative, set goals, and work hard to exceed them - Customer Driven – You make customer satisfaction a chief priority - Coaching Focus - Bring out the best in others through insightful input and clear expectations Preferred Qualifications: - 2+ years in a supervisory or team lead role - Experience in designing material handling equipment - Experience with pharmaceutical equipment Working Conditions: - Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer - Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times - Able to travel as needed (5%) – to work directly with customers and learn the market/industry for effective product development Benefits: - Leading Medical Insurance – consistently the leading medical rates for small businesses in the area - Health Savings Account with Employer contributions (depends on plan selected) - Dental Insurance - Vision Insurance - Life Insurance - Identity Theft Insurance - 401k with 4% employer match - Generous PTO - Paid Paternity and Maternity leave - Paid cell phone plan with stipend for new phone every 2 years - Referral program Pay Range: $85,000 - $130,000/yr
