$22.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Description

Duties: Under the supervision of the Athletics & Special Event Coordinator, the Volleyball Referee is responsible for the following:

  • Officiate adult recreational volleyball games in accordance with league and USA Volleyball (USAV) rules.
  • Ensure a safe and respectful playing environment for all participants.
  • Monitor player conduct and enforce rules consistently and fairly.
  • Start and end games on schedule.
  • Keep accurate score and report game results promptly.
  • Communicate clearly with players, team captains, and league coordinators.
  • Provide rulings on disputes and manage on-court conflicts professionally.
  • Conduct pre-game checks (e.g., equipment, court conditions).
  • Report any injuries, incidents, or rule violations to league management.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
  • Game Schedule:
    • October 16 - Novemmber 20, 2025
    • Thursday evenings at 5:30 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and 8:30 pm

$22.00 per game

Essential Functions: The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies and materials relevant to programming. Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping. Ability to understand and complete paperwork and record keeping in order to complete duties. Ability to operate computer, copy machine, scanner, etc. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

Experience: Prior experience officiating volleyball games preferred (recreational or competitive level). Prior understanding of volleyball techniques, rules, and strategies.

Certification: CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Knowledge of official volleyball rules (USA Volleyball or NFHS rules a plus).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make quick, confident decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to remain professional, calm, and impartial.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
