Description
Duties: Under the supervision of the Director of Equity & Inclusion, the Inclusion & Belonging Intern is responsible for the following:
- Data Entry & Organization – Assist with inputting, organizing, and maintaining DEIA-related data, files, and records.
- Project Coordination – Help manage DEIA-related projects by keeping track of deadlines, milestones, and deliverables. Assist in organizing materials and ensuring smooth execution.
- Email Correspondence – Send professional, clear, and empathetic emails to internal partners and stakeholders.
- Research & Data Collection – Support the team by gathering relevant information related to DEIA topics, including basic research in sociology, psychology, and civics.
- Collaboration & Support – Provide general administrative support to the DEIA team, including preparing presentations, reports, and assisting with other day-to-day tasks.
- Embody Empathy & Professionalism – Demonstrate a positive attitude and intellectual curiosity. Approach all tasks with empathy, respect, and dedication to promoting DEIA principles.
- Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
- All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- This is a grant-funded position available to undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Essential Functions: Bend, stoop and sit for period of time. Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Qualifications
Education: Status as a current College Undergrad student.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience planning, developing, and implementing educational programs is preferred.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Basic understanding of sociology, psychology, and civics, or related fields of study.
- A demonstrated passion for DEIA-related initiatives and social justice. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional email correspondence.
- Ability to work independently, maintain a flexible schedule, and work with a fast-paced schedule.
- Self-starter with the ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
- A positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and empathy are essential. Strong commitment to helping people and promoting inclusivity
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
