Duties: Under the supervision of the Small Parks Manager, the Seasonal John Gwynn Jr. Park Attendant is responsible for the following:

• Performing all duties assigned for the maintenance of John Gwynn Jr. & M. L. King Jr. Parks. This includes various different operations, such as:
  • Emptying garbage barrels and picking up litter
  • Opening, cleaning and maintaining public restrooms
  • Shelter preparations and clean up after events
  • Perform weekly Playground & Park Equipment Safety Inspections
• Reporting any vandalism, unusual condition, emergency, or incident to the Park Manager immediately.
• Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
• Performing other related duties as assigned

Essential Functions:

• Ability to reach, walk, pull, kneel, squat and bend at the waist and knees.
• Ability to operate machinery relative to job duties.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older.

Knowledge and Ability:

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Aptitude for on-the-job training.
• Requires a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
• Ability to work well with Park District personnel.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and special events.
• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
• Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
• Personal: Work record that shows reliability, integrity, initiative, and resourcefulness.
