Description
Duties: Under direct supervision of the Camp Wokanda Manager, the Camp Wokanda Maintenance and Ranger is responsible for the following:
- Assist with campground preparation for programs, events, and rentals.
- Through coordination with the campground manager, assist with cleaning and preparation for facilities being used or rented.
- Assist with check-ins and camper interactions.
- Thorough coordination with Campground Manager, assist with check-ins of campground renters.
- Ensure camper satisfaction by checking on campers throughout their stay.
- Answer the office phone and assist customers with inquires and questions, return messages in a timely manner.
- Book rentals on Rectrac software.
- Process sales for rentals and merchandise.
- Assist with Camp Wokanda programing.
- Operate equipment including, but not limited to, riding mower, string trimmer, end loader, and chainsaw.
- Maintain grounds, including grass cutting and trimming.
- Maintain all camp roads and trails as needed.
- Maintain equipment maintenance records for servicing, operating instructions, etc.
- Clean all camp buildings, assisting in trash removal and restocking supplies.
- Obtain firewood for camp, including splitting and stacking. Ensuring that Spring and Autumn splitting is conducted in a timely manner for proper wood drying.
- Disperse firewood to bins requested by campers.
- Prepare buildings and grounds for rentals.
- Report to Wokanda Manager any unsafe conditions, maintenance needs, supply shortages, unusual guest circumstances, scheduling conflicts, or out-of-the-ordinary circumstances.
- Report on a weekly basis to manager to update on maintenance aspects of the campground and voice any future maintenance issues/concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required on a periodic basis.
- The programmed activities involve everyday risks, which require normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.
- Rotating Weekend and Evening Coverage.
Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least two years of field experience in facility management with grounds and facility maintenance desirable. Experience working with the public is required. Experience with maintaining building interior and exterior and operating grounds maintenance equipment. Experience and ability in minor, routine plumbing, electrical, and well upkeep.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Excellent customer service skills with a passion for hospitality.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with the ability to engage with guests of all ages.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic office software and reservation systems is a plus.
- Requires a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
