Description
Duties: Under the supervision of the Out of School Programs and Camp Manager, the Camp Program Intern is responsible for the following:
- Assisting in the preparation of summer camp programming for all Peoria Park Summer Day Camps.
- Researching and creating a digital resource folder of activities, games, and crafts set to specific weekly themes.
- Assisting in researching field trips and guest speaker opportunities and scheduling them.
- Following all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
- All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
- Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and supporting all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
- This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Essential Functions: Standing, bending and stooping. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds is required on a periodic basis. The programmed activities involve everyday risk, which require normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.
Qualifications
Education: Current High School or College Undergrad student status. Must be at least 16 years old.
Experience: Previous experience with summer camp programming highly preferred.
Knowledge and Ability:
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, as the majority of the work can be done remotely.
Qualities of being energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
Ability to follow instructions and share feedback.
Ability to work independently and remotely as needed.
Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to create and keep deadlines.
Ability to conduct research on the internet and create digital catalogs of researched material.
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
