Duties: Under the general supervision of the Information Security Supervisor, the Information Technology Intern is responsible for:

• Analyze, design, and deliver end user security training.
• Participate in compliance testing and remediation.
• Participate in network analysis and securing networks.
• Participate in system auditing and testing. Perform other duties as assigned.
• Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
• As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
• All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
• Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.

Essential Functions:

• Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

Education: Status as a current High School or College Undergrad student. Must be at least 16 years old.

Experience: Previous experience with information technology preferred.

Knowledge and Ability:

• Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
• Be familiar with Windows operating system
• Be familiar with Microsoft Office.
• Have an interest in computer and network security.
• Be familiar with or willing to learn the Linux and MacOS operating systems.
• Be familiar with or willing to learn security testing tools, methodologies, and documentation.
• Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers
