Description

Duties: Under the supervision of the Peoria AirportGift Shop Manager, the Peoria Airport Gift Shop Cashier is responsible for:

  • Sell admissions accurately and efficiently. Actively solicit membership sales and all other appropriate tickets/offers.
  • Sell all gift shop items accurately and efficiently.
  • Receive and tag merchandise
  • Stock gift shop shelves.
  • Keep all gift shop areas and work spaces clean and "visitor friendly".
  • Attend to all customer needs/problems in a prompt & courteous manner.
  • Answer phone calls; relay any necessary messages to staff.
  • Check messages and work schedules at the start of the shift.
  • Open registers and prepare assigned area if opening the shop.
  • CloCloseoutgisters and other devices at the end of the business day and transferring money and appropriate paperwork to the supervisor.
  • Clean assigned areas at the end of the business day to established standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of deposits and associated record keeping.
  • Inventory gift shop stock on a regular basis and make reports.
  • Check supplies of all brochures/other informational items and replenish displays as necessary.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
  • Wear proper designated uniform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions: The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials. Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds are required on a periodic basis. The programmed activities involve everyday riskrisksich require normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of two years of high school.

Experience: Experience working with computers and handling money. Experience in retail and/or customer service preferred.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Ability to accurately handle money.
  • Aptitude for on-the-job training and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
  • Personal: Must be dependable and have good customer service skills.
