Description

DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Coordinator of PPD Events & Programming, the Bartender is responsible for:

  • Sell and prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Collect money and/or tickets for beverages served and provide change as needed.
  • Process credit/debit card transactions on the District’s devices in an efficient manner.
  • Set up bar area(s) before each event in a timely and efficient manner. Tear down bar area(s) at end of each event; including returning all items to the proper storage area.
  • Keep bar area(s) stocked, clean, sanitary, and "visitor friendly" during each event.
  • Verify legal age requirements by checking the identification of all customers.
  • Attend to all customer needs/problems in a prompt & courteous manner. Includes making sure customers are not over-served.
  • Complete pre-and-post-shift beverage inventory of alcoholic and non-alcoholic products.
  • Maintain an inventory relevant to the crowd and time of the event; alert Event Manager(s) when more product is needed or if there is more than needed.
  • Assist event admission sale and entrance locations as needed by Event Manager(s).
  • Wear proper designated uniform or identification.
  • Comply with local and state beverage regulations.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • THIS POSITION IS $9/HOUR PLUS TIPS
  • THIS POSITION WILL SERVE AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, AS NEEDED

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials. Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds are required on a periodic basis. The programmed activities involve everyday risks, which require normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.

Qualifications

Education: Must be at least 21 years of age and have high school diploma or GED. Must have or obtain BASSET Certification within 30 days of hire.

Experience: Experience in bartending preferred. Experience in customer service and handling money helpful.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Ability to accurately handle and serve beverages in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to accurately handle money.
  • Aptitude for on-the-job training and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
  • Must be dependable and have good customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work well in and with a team.
