HEALTH - NUTRITIONIST II

Job Description Summary

Provide comprehensive nutrition education for WIC program participants as well as Community members. Serves as Designating Breastfeeding Expert for WIC participants by completing assessments and providing support and recommendations. Serves as a resource of breastfeeding information and in-services for Nutritionists and other staff as well as outside agencies. Responsible for planning clinic schedules and resolving customer and record management issues. Serves as a resource of information and makes recommendations for Nutritionists as well as outside agencies. Works to improve the nutritional status of Peoria County residents through nutrition assessment, education and referral for individuals, families, and populations. Must have bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, public health nutrition, or related field with at least 2 years’ experience. Master’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, public health or related field preferred. Must have International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) designation within 18 months of hire date. Registered Dietitian certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred. Must display initiative and possess leadership skills. Knowledge and ability to utilize computers and related technology efficiently, including but not limited to: Windows based operating systems; Microsoft Office software such as Word, Outlook, and Excel; Presentation software such as PowerPoint and Canva. Familiarity with collaboration software such as SharePoint preferred. Must have effective oral and written communication skills in individual and group settings. Must have valid Illinois driver’s license, proof of auto accident liability insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Must have problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills. Must be able to work well in a team setting and must possess leadership skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
