Job Description Summary
Responsible for the correctness and accuracy of all recorded documents. Maintains and updates all monument records, survey documents, new subdivision plats, vacation ordinances, cemetery records, and easements. Assists with other functions of the office, including: property tax redemption, vital records certification, marriage/civil union licenses, business under assumed name filings, notary commissions, plat certifications and filings Associate Degree/two years of college or high school diploma/equivalent and 2 or more years of property instrument experience gained in the title, banking or legal fields. Two years of customer service experience required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have proficient mathematical and cashiering skills. Basic bookkeeping skills needed. Must possess a strong aptitude of computers and system operations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office based software including Word and Excel required; along with working knowledge of recording software. Ability to type 45 wpm. Must be able to read complex legal descriptions, deeds, and surveys. Strong interpersonal, and communication skills. Must have strong verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively and courteously with the general public, attorneys, county departments, title companies, and others. Strong reading and problem-solving skills required. Alphabetical and numerical indexing skills with the ability to research land records and maps. Understanding of other legal documents and property transfer transactions. Interpretive skill as related to mapping techniques, surveyor transactions, engineering drawings, and legal descriptions. Drafting ability sufficient to update/modify recorded plats and other reference drawings or maps. Ability to diffuse and deal with stressful situations, use discretion due to information involved, and maintain confidentiality of department records and information. Ability to use independent judgement in problem solving with minimal supervision, yet recognizing limitations of authority and responsibilities in a team-oriented environment
