Expected pay for this position is $67.66 - $89.64/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.


Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) reports to the Chief Quality Officer and is responsible for supporting the strategic imperatives with input from the medical staff of OSF HealthCare. The VPMA fulfills these system objectives by collaborating with the leadership of the OSF HealthCare medical staff, the broader medical staff, and the Medical Staff Office (MSO) department while ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and industry best practices. The VPMA provides collaborative advice to health system leadership on medical staff-related issues such as integration, performance, wellness, and professional development. This advisory role is grounded in a deep understanding of provider culture, medical staff policies and bylaws, health system goals, industry trends, and leadership development principles.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree

Experience:

  • 10 years of physician leadership experience is required, ideally including roles such as practice or department medical director.

Licensure/ Certification:

  • An unrestricted medical license from a U.S. state board of medicine.
  • Board certification in a specialty approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Other Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in delivering significant results through direct leadership, influence, collaboration, and excellent communication skills.
  • A strong personal presence defined by unwavering ethics, integrity, intellectual honesty, and sound judgment, along with the ability to inspire and motivate others to uphold the mission, vision, goals, values, and behavioral standards of OSF HealthCare, regardless of physician/provider employment affiliation.
  • A consistent, inclusive, person-centered approach that considers economic, social, gender, racial, age-related, and religious or spiritual influences.
  • A comprehensive understanding of medical staff administrative processes, including medical staff bylaws, peer review, credentialing, and governance.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage a wide range of issues with varying complexity effectively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in medical staff governance preferred
