Overview

The Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology provides a structured, supervised training experience designed to fulfill required clinical service and supervision hours. Grounded in the scientist-practitioner model, the program offers intensive, hands-on development in applying evidence-based psychological principles and the scientific method within direct clinical service delivery. Fellows gain advanced experience in assessment, intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration while strengthening the professional competencies essential for independent clinical practice.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist, provides evaluation and treatment services for individuals with developmental, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age, developmental stage, and economic circumstances of the patients served, with an understanding of their physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of psychological and therapeutic principles, including assessment and psychological testing, theories of personality, abnormal psychology, cognitive theory, behavior modification, individual and group therapy, multicultural considerations, clinical supervision, human sexuality, and lifespan development, as typically acquired through completion of a doctoral program in clinical psychology.
  • Communicates assessment findings and treatment recommendations effectively to patients, family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated, high-quality treatment planning.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary patient staffing as needed to support the care team in identifying, evaluating, and addressing behavioral factors that may affect the patient’s treatment plan and overall outcomes.
  • Monitors patient progress on an ongoing basis and reevaluates treatment goals and care plans as clinically indicated.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation within the electronic medical record (EPIC), including initial assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans, in accordance with organizational and professional standards.
  • Documents clinical supervision received from doctoral-level psychologists in accordance with training, licensure, and organizational requirements.
  • Integrates psychological services with primary care and specialty care providers, both within OSF Saint Francis and across external care settings, to promote continuity, collaboration, and comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Doctorate

Specific Majors: Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. or PsyD in clinical psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) approved training program

Experience: Successful completion of pre-doctoral internship

Other skills/knowledge:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
