Expected pay for this position is $20.41 - $24.01/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides support to the residents, faculty, and administration of the Dental General Practice Residency Program GPR: This includes helping dentists in providing quality and complete general dentistry to eligible children and adults according to the guidelines of the Illinois Dental Practice Act. This position requires the ability to use judgment and discretion in handling confidential communications and documents. Dental Surgical Assistant performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment for all patient care units. Dental Surgical Assistant will collaborate with physicians and registered nurses to serve in a support role within the OR and is responsible for supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needed for surgical cases. Dental Surgical Assistant is proficient in surgical environment as surgical assistant, passing instruments, monitoring case sterility, and assisting the physician during surgical cases.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 5 years Dental Assisting
Licensure/ Certification: Certification in Dental Assisting from DANB (Dental Assistant National Board). CDA, COA, CPFDA, CRFDA or equivalent preferred, graduate of an accredited dental assisting program, or a minimum of six months experience working as a Dental Assistant in a dental practice.
Certified Nitrous Oxide Monitoring within one year of employment.
Certified in Coronal Polishing and Sealants within one year of employment.
BLS certified through American Heart Association.
Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must multi-task in highly demanding situations. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting Program Experience: Hospital Experience.
