Expected pay for this position is $44.77 - $52.67/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.


Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects for OSF HealthCare Foundation. The Gift Officer’s primary responsibility is the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive giving program. The Officer develops a coordinated matrix of solicitation strategies involving personal solicitation, events and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of philanthropic support. This person has a keen appreciation for the infrastructure of philanthropic giving as the enabling component of successful major and planned gift and annual gift programs and will work collaboratively with the Annual Fund Program Manager and Annual Fund staff, the Donor Relations Manager, Corporate Giving Officer, the Foundation’s Event Coordinator, and other Gift Officers throughout the Healthcare System. The Officer creates a Case for Support for all areas of their assigned entity within the Healthcare System, and develops and implements solicitation strategies for programs highlighted in the entity‘s plan, including department specific annual appeals such as corporate campaign, employee campaign and physician campaign. The Officer identifies grateful and former patients as potential donors and reviews annual donor lists to identify major gifts prospects.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in in public relations, communications, fundraising or a related field.

Experience:

5 years of related work experience, including but not limited to sales, fund raising, working with volunteers, in a complex, not-for-profit institution with documented success in raising gifts of $50,000 or more.

Other skills/knowledge:

• Knowledge of the specific steps needed in the process leading to a major gift solicitation.

• Knowledge/experience involving volunteers in the fundraising process.

• Strong writing, communication, interpersonal, team building and organizational skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with individual donors and corporate organizations when soliciting financial support, with media contacts, Medical Center personnel, and committees. Work cooperatively with a variety of Medical Center managers, executives and staff.

• Analytical abilities necessary in order to prepare basic fund raising plans and evaluate results, respond to problems by identifying and implementing appropriate corrective action, develop and administer policies, procedures and budgets, and organize and oversee work of subordinates.
