This Ultrasound Apprentice position will pay $17.00/hour for hours worked. This is an Hourly position.
Apprentices will receive fully funded tuition as well as an Apprentice Stipend to assist with the cost-of-living expenses while enrolled full-time in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Illinois Central College.
Overview
Summary
Selected participants, while enrolled in the Illinois Central College Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program, will work 4 hours/week in an eligible Sonography unit as an Ultrasound Apprentice and will also receive an apprentice bonus to help cover living expenses.
Program Goal
An Apprentice will have support for the academic progression and clinical competence by working beside an experienced OSF ultrasound technologist to gain real clinical experience that will assist in successful completion of the sonography program before transitioning into a full-time Ultrasound Technologist role at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Eligibility
Participants must be enrolled into the Illinois Central College Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program for the Fall 2024 semester.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Ultrasound Apprentice program is for students who are accepted and enrolled into an Ultrasound program. While in the Ultrasound program the apprentice will spend 8 hours each pay period (2, 4-hour shifts) participating in all Radiology Assistant duties.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma/ GED. Must be enrolled in the Illinois Central College accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program where an Associate Degree will be awarded with anticipated graduation in 2027.
Experience: N/A
Licensure/ Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association
Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
