Expected pay for this position is $31.19 - $36.69/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Credentialed Trainer and Process Optimization Specialist primarily functions as the laboratory EPIC Credentialed Trainer (CT). Conducts new user and end-user EPIC/Beaker training using established curricula. Serves as a liaison with laboratory super-users in order to educate and implement changes and to provide guidance and instruction on EPIC/Beaker monthly updates. Provides support for EPIC version upgrades along with on-site support of new OSF sites going live on EPIC/Beaker. Disseminates training material, education, and/or notices of changes either by classroom training or electronically, based on the learners’ needs. Troubleshoots end-user issues, assists in application/functionality optimization, and assists departments with EPIC laboratory-related testing. Works cooperatively within the ministry to standardize implemented solutions for optimal efficiency as One OSF system. Utilizes process improvement (PI) methodologies and/or project management skills to plan and drive improvements forward. Evaluates data, problems, and optimization lists/portfolios and for IT-related EPIC/Beaker functionality changes that would improve workflows and/or quality and safety, writes business cases (SBARs) and seeks approval to proceed. Maintains laboratory operations knowledge in order to identify opportunities for continuous improvement through the implementation and/or optimization of quality solutions. Actively participates in improving laboratory quality especially with promoting/seeking electronic solutions, and takes a leadership role in problem resolution. Executes special projects as assigned. Maintains operational knowledge/works the bench to effectively identify and prioritize optimization efforts.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Associates degree in a healthcare, business administration, education, informatics or other related field
Experience:
- 1 year of experience working with an electronic medical record in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Licensure/Certifications:
- Must attain and retain Epic Beaker credentialing to teach within 1 year of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
- General knowledge of chemistry, biology, mathematics, clinical laboratory sciences, laboratory testing and quality control methods and laboratory workflows
- Understand and use of the principles of adult learning in order to best meet learner needs by translating the EPIC/Beaker changes and updates to the super-users and/or end-users
Licensure/Certifications:
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Other skills/knowledge:
- Interpersonal skills to successfully work with laboratory and multi-disciplinary teams and vendors to independently bring positive resolution to issues and to meet departmental and organizational strategic goals by leading teams and conducting one-on-one and group training sessions
- Problem-solving, time management, and strong organizational skills in order to develop and meet project schedules and objectives
- Adaptability/flexibility/multi-tasking: Trainers work in an environment of frequent change and need to quickly adapt to updates in the curriculum and training environment
