Overview

Expected pay for this position is $58.00 - $76.86/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

OSF’s Central Region includes Saint Francis Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Illinois, a Level I adult and pediatric regional trauma center in Peoria, IL. The region also includes a new cancer institute offering state-of-the-art proton therapy, a medical simulation and innovation center, and other clinical, academic, and administrative facilities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Facilities Planning and Operations is responsible for the strategic and operational management of multiple healthcare facilities within the region. The position will directly lead a team of managers and supervisors in maintaining high standards for facility infrastructure and the physical environment, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, managing budgets and resources efficiently, and overseeing construction and renovation projects. The role works in conjunction with the OSF HealthCare System Facilities Planning and Administration team to implement various standards, policies, procedures, and strategies. This leadership role will think strategically, drive a culture of service and operational excellence, and commit to maintaining healthcare environments conducive to delivering high-quality patient care and positive patient, visitor, and employee experiences.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Experience:

  • 5 years of facilities management or related experience for multiple facilities or health system.

Other Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Ability to design, implement, and manage programs for facilities management, preventative maintenance, infrastructure assessment, capital planning, energy management, accreditation and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other codes and regulations. Proficiency with performing facility physical surveys and building assessments.
  • Experience in developing and managing performance and quality measurement and evaluation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead work groups or project teams through the design, development and implementation of changes in organizational structure and work processes.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining approved schedules and good working relationships with stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Licensure/ Certification:

  • Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) certification from the American Hospital Association (AHA) or the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE).

Other Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma or other similar performance improvement systems.
