This position is a part of the Patient Access Offsite team located here in Greater Peoria area. This role supports services including, but not limited to, diagnostic testing, Radiation Oncology, and Children’s Hospital of Illinois. As a Patient Access Mission Partner, we strive to provide a great patient experience by using proper registration practices. Patient Access is often the first interactions a patient has when visiting an OSF facility. By our team completing the registration with patients, we can help the clinical team with accurate medical records, and the patient with processing their insurance claim. We also can offer patient financial assistance to lessen their burdens. As a Patient Access Mission Partner, we can provide welcoming hospitality to our patients and their loved ones.
Expected pay for this position is $18.43 - $21.69/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation. Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills. Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology.
