Expected pay for this position is $21.30 - $25.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity
POSITION SUMMARY: The Educator for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) is responsible for providing education to sterile processing department. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating orientation and continuing education programs in an effort to enhance the quality of sterile processing services, ensuring such programs are based on the professional standards relevant to sterile processing services and the departments supported by sterile processing. Along with leadership, the Educator is accountable for ensuring competency of staff and adjusting training approaches if competencies are not consistently being achieved. Responsible for maintaining ongoing review & knowledge of new technologies and instrumentation selections that reduce cost, improve quality of sterilization services or advance the quality of care to our patients. As well as maintaining high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping, and sterilization of medical equipment and surgical instruments, maintains disposable inventory and ordering.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Licensure/Certifications: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
- Experience: 3 years clinical experience in Sterile Processing
Other skills or knowledge:
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, methods of sterilization, infection control, standard precautions, use of sterilizers, decontamination equipment and procedures, intricate specialty equipment, including power equipment and micro surgical equipment, surgical instrumentation by name and usage, and cleaning of Durable medical equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Prior advanced Sterile Processing experience.
