For Parkland College Surgical Technologist program students.
The Parkland College Surgical Technology Education Stipend provides selected students a $16,000 education stipend to be used to assist with program costs. Upon graduation, education stipend recipients will be required to work a 3 year work commitment, full time at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center (Urbana) or OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (Peoria), whichever you select, as a Surgical Technologist.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Surgical Technologist provides care for patients across the life span based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety, appropriate to the age of the person. Primarily performs duties of scrub person throughout the intra-operative phase of care. Recognizes significant conditions and reactions and notifies the RN, Charge Nurse, Anesthesia provider and/or the physician of the patient’s condition. Adheres to a high standard of patient safety principles and aseptic and sterile techniques. Follows and understands the standards and recommended practices according to the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and Association of Surgical Technologist. (AST).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED, Must be enrolled in Parkland College's Surgical Technologist program.
