SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans and coordinates health and safety program requiring application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases by performing the following duties. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manager is responsible for all locations and divisions of Morton Industries, LLC.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manages functions of direct report EHS Technician, as applicable
  • Develops, implements, and carries out programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.
  • Surveys, compiles and analyses, data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, radiation, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health.
  • Conducts trend analysis of EHS-related incidents and conditions, reports as necessary and makes appropriate recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Evaluates and/or recommends control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
  • Provides technical guidance to management, and labor regarding health and safety-related conditions.
  • Provides input related to EHS for new projects and/or changes to existing conditions or processes.
  • Monitors the company's health standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in industry and government regulations.
  • Advises executive team and management in regard to potential liabilities.
  • Develops, facilitates, and/or conducts training for workers on miscellaneous issues related to all facets of the operation.
  • In depth investigation of accidents as required and works directly with worker’s compensation carrier and claims managers to ensure proper claims handling, as well as litigation and arbitration stance as necessary.
  • Assists designated employees in identifying potential causes of accidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness.
  • Ensures proper and complete management of all regulatory records (OSHA, EPA, etc.) as required
  • Works with insurance providers to ensure management of all potential risk.
  • Facilitates and monitors safety teams at all facilities.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

5+ years of EHS management experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Associate degree with safety-related emphasis.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency using spreadsheet applications such as Excel and basic knowledge of MES and or other tracking programs.
