SUMMARY

Sets up and operates metal sawing machines such as hacksaw, band saw, cold saw, friction saw, to cut metal stock to dimensions by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Reads job order, or print for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut.
• Obtains and transfers stock to and from machine, either manually or mechanically.
• Installs saw blades and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation.
• Sets saw blade angles to obtain desired angle cuts.
• Set stops and guides to control dimension of cut.
• Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device.
• Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area.
• Starts machine and observes operation. Measures work for conformance to specifications.
• Marks identifying data on container.
• Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel.
• All other duties as assigned
