Morton Industries is hiring for a Design Engineering Intern!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

The Design Engineering Intern will assist in the design and development of industrial enclosures and related products. This role will focus on product design, design for manufacturing (DFM), and production design support. The intern will gain hands-on experience in engineering design processes while collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure product feasibility and efficiency.

  • Assists in the development and improvement of product designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes to optimize product designs.
  • Works closely with manufacturing and production teams to refine designs and ensure compliance with production capabilities.
  • Develops or revises design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Conducts design reviews and collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design issues.
  • Uses CAD software to create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings of components and assemblies.
  • Assists in prototype development, testing, and validation of new product designs.
  • Performs engineering calculations and analysis to support product performance and reliability.
  • Applies design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to reduce production costs and improve product quality.
  • Participates in meetings, training sessions, and design discussions to enhance engineering knowledge and skills.
  • Reviews engineering specifications, production schedules, and other documentation to understand design requirements.
  • Communicates with management and production personnel to provide technical support and ensure alignment between design and manufacturing objectives.
  • Recommends design improvements to enhance functionality, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Assists in creating design layouts and production drawings to ensure optimal use of materials and workspace.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent

Studying at a college or university, majoring in related field.
