SUMMARY

Assist in facilitation of the health and safety program requiring through support of EHS Manager. Maintenance of application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs environmental and safety measurements, safety evaluations, and hazardous waste evaluations.
  • Conducts all required water sampling, visual inspections, etc. as required by state, federal and local laws IAW company permitting.
  • Develops or provides input to hazardous material communications, including approving and maintaining safety data sheets.
  • Assist in preparation for and submission of reports to environmental and other governing bodies.
  • Active involvement in workstation evaluations, including ergonomics, of new machines, existing cells, etc. and annual review of existing positions/equipment.
  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with company EHS requirements. Mentors and if need be, directs disciplinary action for non-compliance.
  • Develops, facilitates, or performs training for workers on issues related to health and safety, providing both mandated annual and issue-specific training. Maintaining documentation as required.
  • Ensures PIT operator and respiratory protection databases are maintained accurately and certifications are kept up to date.
  • Conducts new-hire safety training during onboarding process
  • Develops and chairs Plant Safety Teams.
  • Maintains safety promotion programs such as, Safe Employee of the Month, Golden Broom Award, Caught Red Handed, etc. and develops new awareness plans.
  • Manages Emergency Responder program and conducts training/retraining
  • Develops, facilitates, or performs incident-specific training for workers when significant hazards or issues are identified.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports while working with Safety Manager and workers compensation carrier as required.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

5+ years of EHS experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a facility involving EHS work in a manufacturing environment

High School Diploma or equivalent.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

High level of proficiency using spreadsheet applications such as Excel, including the use of pivot
