Morton Buildings, Inc.’s Design Services Department, located in Morton, Illinois is offering a paid student internship for the summer. The internship program will provide the student with on-the-job training to develop relevant skills aligned with their current course of study.

Essential Functions

• Work directly with a mentor in your field of study
• Learn the basic Morton Buildings post frame building structure
• Interact with sales consultants, order management, drafting technicians, and design professionals to review contract requirements
• Utilize structural engineering standards, techniques, and methods for the design of commercial, institutional, residential, and agricultural building projects
• Create and develop construction documentation in accordance with industry standards, state and local building codes, ordinances, and other applicable standards.
• Generate structural calculations utilizing Mathcad, Visual Analysis, and proprietary methods
• Assist with review audit and revisions to plans
• Assist with process improvement initiatives
• Participate in weekly team meetings
• Other tasks as identified

Requirements

• Targeted graduation date during the 2025/2026 school year or students completing schooling at the end of 2024 but still needing to satisfy an internship requirement
• Pursuing an engineering degree in one of the following fields: Construction, Structural, Civil, Mechanical or a related discipline.
