Overview

The RN Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager in the administrative duties of the clinical unit and providing leadership through collaboration with the healthcare team and maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. This position will participate in organizational and unit-based quality improvement activities and provide input on standards of care to maintain quality patient outcomes. Will also maintain the clinical competencies needed to provide direct patient care when the need arises.
Qualifications

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA); National Nursing Certification within 3 years - Varies; Basic Fetal Heart Monitoring (B-FHM) - Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 1 year - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

Education: Bachelor's Degree: Nursing (Required)

Work Experience: Labor and delivery nursing


Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily nursing and staffing activities of Inpatient unit.
  • Ensures staff members are adequately trained and are competent to perform all required job tasks.
  • Recommend various personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, disciplinary, performance appraisals, and promotions; make work assignments and review and edit work of subordinates.
  • Resolves work related issues, or assists employees in solving work related issues, confers with manager to resolve more complex situations.
  • Supports the Manager in collecting information for accreditation surveys and departmental audits. Actively assists the Manager with implementation of the recommended changes.
  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Develops, implements and participates in Quality Improvement initiatives and performs quality audits as directed/needed.
  • Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration for use by the health care team.
  • Review events reported for quality and safety opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform chart audits.
  • Oversees daily department operations in collaboration with manager and director.
  • Update Dashboard monthly.
  • Perform patient and staff rounding.
  • Assists in yearly staff evaluations and mid-year check-ins.
  • Provides introductory discipline (ROC, verbal, 1st Written).
  • Provide care to the inpatient obstetric patient.
  • Monitors fetal well being, administer medications, provide patient and staff education.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $42.72per hour - $73.48per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
