Provides medical direction for emergency department patients who have no primary care physician and require primary care follow up. Review lab cultures, x-ray/ECG discrepancies with ED physician to determine treatment plan. Notify patient(s) regarding appropriate follow-up. Perform departmental audits per request of the Nurse Manager/Director. Position will work with Nurse Manager to resolve patient satisfaction issues.

Responsibilities
Receives and reviews ED laboratory culture results, x-ray, ECG discrepancies evaluating treatment of positive findings. Reviews chart and note treatment rendered. Consult with ED physician regarding need for additional treatment. Contacts patients regarding additional treatment considered necessary. Call in prescriptions as required. Sends certified letters if unable to contact patient by phone. Works with health department for follow-up with STD cultures. If admitted patient, calls inpatient unit to notify regarding discrepancy. Compiles monthly reports/statistics related to quality review activity. Performs ED audits as requested. Documents all patient interactions in a tracking log. Tallies data statistics monthly, prepares quarterly reports for ED Medical Director, Director and Nurse Manager Provides summary of patient complaints on a monthly basis Assists with auditing core measure data and others as assigned Provides appropriate follow up to patients as deemed necessary by the ED providers. Works closely with the referral center to make sure patients' needs are met post discharge. Works with nursing and provider groups to make sure discharge care standards are met and patients receive the appropriate follow up care and information. Works closely with the health department and other outside agencies as needed to appropriate patient care. assists nursing and providers with animal bite, HIV testing and needle stick procedures. orders supplies as needed per department. provides ED patient follow up as needed.
