The major function of this position is:
To manage the Lab Engineering Team and oversee the process for maintaining Lab equipment. Performing preventative maintenance as well as reactionary maintenance when and where needed. Coordinate with Facilities regarding building maintenance.
Pay Range: $75,000 - $82,000
The primary responsibilities and essential duties of this position are:
Partner with supervisors on workflow, priorities, coordinate and assign daily job responsibilities for maintenance activities to ensure the department goals are met.
Proactively communicate any issues relating to maintenance or personnel to the supervisor.
Provide team support and leadership by being first line of contact for employee concerns.
Actively participate and engage in continuous improvement processes and coach employees on such initiatives.
Ensure team members meet company and department expectations by providing them with daily feedback, as well as discussing production reports with them.
Communicate and escalate any issues requiring the direction of the Supervisor i.e. behavior or production issues, employee relations issues, etc.
Train and cross train new and existing employees to ensure all department standards are met. Ensure all training SOP materials are maintained and readily available for team
Serve as the “go-to” person for Maintenance Dept inquiries.
Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the department through efficient use of personnel.
Maintain constant communication with all personnel to ensure policies and procedures are constant with all shifts.
Troubleshoot and identify corrective action for delays with workflow including spoilage.
Multi-task to maintain an efficient flow of production and breakage. Work between all Rx departments to accomplish our mutual goal of: 1) High Quality, 2) Customer Satisfaction, 3) High Production, 4) Low Spoilage
Provide back-up to the shift supervisor in his/her absence.
Assist in assessing and developing training plans for the Maintenance Team.
Take lead role as admin for Fiix, our Computerized Maintenance Management System(CMMS). Enter known preventive maintenance activities into FIIX program.
Identify other ways to expand use of our Computerized Maintenance Management System(CMMS).
Assist in preparing and conducting Vendor Performance Ratings.
Maintain and repair machines and equipment.
Maintain preventative maintenance program.
Maintain and/or update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all maintenance duties on all machines.
Work with Facilities regarding building maintenance and needs.
Become familiar with Lab Operating System(LMS) and serve as a dedicated backup to operating and maintaining VisionStar.
Maintain lab software to fit our changing needs.
Continuing education with manufacturers on maintenance of equipment and troubleshooting, Troubleshoot and identify corrective action for delays with workflow.
Work with all departments within the Lab to determine their equipment needs

- Perform other duties as assigned.
Indicated below is the preferred education and experience for this position:
Associate or bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of maintaining optical lab equipment
Strong mechanical and technical knowledge.
Skills preferred for this position:

Proactive, solution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Must have the ability to work in an organized fashion and meet deadlines. Good planning/scheduling/coordinating skills necessary.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must display courtesy and tact in handling employees.

Microcomputer experience.
Ability to identify cost savings opportunities.
