The overall objective of the department in which this position works is:

To be a lean, high-performance department comprised of people of the highest integrity and quality, bound together by clearly defined goals and prideful relationships. The department will do whatever it takes to make Maui Jim, Inc. the number one sunglass designer/distributor in the World. We will strive to provide our customers with the best in customer service and quality possible.

The major function of this position is:

To be a dedicated financial accounting resource in several different areas, including: fixed asset accounting, month-end/year-end close, financial statement consolidation, expense analysis, budgeting, accruals and reserves, and local statutory audits and reviews.

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000

The primary responsibilities and duties of this position are:

  • Maintain accurate records of a fixed assets, globally, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, transfers, depreciation calculations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while collaborating with various departments to properly capitalize assets and generate necessary reports for financial reporting.

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing duties which will include posting of journal entries, preparation of reserve accruals, and preparation of account reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package to support the consolidation process.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate issuance of financial information, meeting required deadlines.

  • Assist in the preparation of various disclosure appendices for parent and group level reporting requirements.

  • Serve as a liaison to International Operations Managers for local statutory financial and tax filings, audits/financial reviews. As the liaison, this role will prepare statutory trial balances, lead the audit/review process including work-paper collection, support, requests, and provide the final review and approval of audit/review reports (together with the Financial Manager), prior to official sign-off and filing with local authorities.

  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and forecasts.

  • Perform consolidated variance analysis, such as variance from the budget, variance from prior month, variance from prior year, and report significant issues to management.

  • Prepare and proactively participate in business reviews with middle and top management.

  • Support the Accounting Team with the maintenance and improvement of control systems, policies and procedures both locally and globally.

  • Assist in the preparation and compliance of internal audit requests.

  • Ad-hoc projects as required.

Desired Qualifications:

Below is the preferred education and experience for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Previous experience (2-4 years) in a similar accounting role

  • CPA preferred, but not required
