The major function of this position is:

The Event Specialist generates excitement, brand awareness, and increases product sales through three event channels – Corporate Gifts, Golf, and Consumer. This position requires extensive travel – candidates should anticipate 90% travel, including weekends and holidays.

The primary responsibilities and essential duties of this position are:

  • Travel to Maui Jim sponsored events to create brand awareness, generate excitement, and increase product sales through promotions.

  • Organize all details and logistics of Corporate Gifts events for assigned Sales Managers.

  • Engage consumers in a professional manner with a focus on customer service.

  • Coordinate, organize, and manage on-site event aspects depending on channel.

  • Work with agencies, vendors and Maui Jim reps prior, during, and after events for on-site logistics and event procedures.

  • Set-up, tear-down, conduct inventory, and coordinate the booth and all promotional items at the events.

  • Account for and maintain inventory (billing and ordering) for sunglasses and promotional materials at assigned events.

  • Project a professional image to all customers and clients.

  • Communicate with event staff and local reps.

  • Perform post-event reports with photos and detailed reviews.

  • Effectively utilize literature and promotional materials.

  • Work with Events Manager and marketing department on projects as needed.

  • Consistently seek ways to improve the customer experience while adding value to the team.

Desired Qualifications

As a guide, indicated below is the preferred education and experience for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • 2 - 3 years of advanced customer service and event/hospitality experience.

Skills preferred for this position:

  • Customer service experience.

  • Aloha spirit and enthusiasm.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to travel.

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

  • Event planning and execution skills.

  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.

  • Microsoft Word, Graphic Design, and Excel skills.

Special physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand for an extended period.

  • Commitment to extensive travel – 90% required.

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
