Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $28-$33 DOE

Schedule: AWS 12 hour shifts 6am-6pm

Overview of role:

Maintenance Technician II performs various maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and furnace systems and equipment. This mid-level role requires more advanced skills and expertise than an entry-level technician and involves working independently with minimal supervision. The Maintenance Technician II ensures that systems and machinery operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The role may also include assisting senior technicians and contributing to larger maintenance projects within the facility. Heat Treat Experience Needed

Core Competencies:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and furnace systems with the ability to troubleshoot and perform advanced repairs.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Proficient in performing scheduled maintenance tasks and inspections to prevent unexpected breakdowns and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective mechanical and electrical systems solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Safety & Compliance: In-depth understanding of safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well with other team members, share knowledge, and assist senior technicians and staff as needed.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document maintenance activities and report issues.

Key Deliverables:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment and systems, including HVAC systems, motors, pumps, compressors, and furnaces.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and furnace systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Assist in installing and setting up new equipment and machinery, including ensuring that all systems are calibrated and tested.
  • Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to address complex maintenance issues and contribute to improving processes and procedures.
  • Replace worn-out or damaged parts, such as belts, bearings, seals, and valves, ensuring that repairs are done according to specifications.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend adjustments, upgrades, or replacements as necessary to improve efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing and executing emergency repairs, ensuring that safety protocols are followed and downtime is minimized.
  • Support developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs and ensure they are consistently followed.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts and tools to ensure the necessary materials are available for timely repairs.
  • Participate in safety audits and inspections, reporting safety hazards and recommending improvements.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians as needed, providing guidance and support to improve team performance.
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or an associate's degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Proficient in using maintenance tools, including hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and vibration analyzers.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance strategies and practices to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and perform necessary repairs or adjustments with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance, including lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities and generating reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively report issues and document maintenance tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical systems, or mechanical systems (e.g., EPA certification, OSHA certification).
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or other industrial control systems.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment.
  • Familiarity with project management software or tools used for scheduling and tracking maintenance tasks

Technology Requirements:

  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS) to track and log work orders, maintenance tasks, and equipment performance.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, thermography cameras) to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, such as climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and using power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in maintenance.
