Compensation: $25-$34 per hour (based on experience)

Overview of role:

The Maintenance Planner Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance activities to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, and reliability of facility operations. This role is integral in organizing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, aligning with operational priorities, and managing resources effectively. The Maintenance Planner Scheduler will collaborate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and other departments to develop and maintain effective maintenance schedules while ensuring minimal disruption to production and operations.

Core Competencies:

· Planning & Scheduling: Expertise in creating and maintaining detailed maintenance schedules, ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed on time and with optimal resource allocation.

· Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple maintenance activities and projects simultaneously, ensuring high operational uptime.

· Preventive Maintenance: Deep knowledge of preventive maintenance (PM) strategies and best practices to minimize equipment downtime and extend equipment life.

· Resource Management: Skilled in managing resources, including personnel, materials, and tools, to ensure that scheduled work is executed efficiently.

· Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with different departments, provide clear instructions, and report on maintenance progress.

· Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve conflicts or delays, proactively finding solutions to maintain optimal maintenance workflows.

· Data Analysis: Proficient in analyzing maintenance performance metrics and using data to improve scheduling and operational efficiency.

Key Deliverables:

· Develop, organize, and maintain comprehensive maintenance schedules that align with operational priorities and minimize downtime.

· Coordinate and plan preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment and machinery are regularly serviced and meet performance standards.

· Schedule corrective maintenance tasks in response to equipment failures, ensuring quick response times and minimal operational disruption.

· Collaborate with maintenance supervisors, technicians, and other departments to ensure work schedules align with operational needs and available resources.

· Manage the planning and preparation of maintenance work orders, ensuring they contain all necessary details such as parts, tools, and personnel requirements.

· Track maintenance work progress, ensure that tasks are completed on schedule, and provide regular updates to management on the status of ongoing maintenance.

· Ensure all required materials, tools, and equipment are available for planned maintenance tasks, minimizing delays due to supply shortages or tool availability.

· Review and optimize maintenance schedules based on equipment performance data, historical trends, and input from technicians and engineers.

· Monitor and manage resource allocation, ensuring that the correct personnel are assigned to the right tasks at the right time.

· Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of spare parts and materials needed for maintenance work.

· Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment downtime, maintenance costs, and task completion rates to evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance schedules and adjust strategies as needed.

· Generate maintenance reports and metrics for management, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.

· Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and organizational standards.

· Assist in developing maintenance budgets and forecasting labor, parts, and materials costs.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree or technical certification in maintenance management, industrial engineering, or related field is preferred).

· 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or coordination in a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment.

· Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance (PM) practices, work order systems, and maintenance scheduling tools.

· Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or similar maintenance scheduling software.

· Familiarity with maintenance metrics and KPIs such as downtime, mean time between failure (MTBF), and mean time to repair (MTTR).

· Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with maintenance teams, managers, and other departments.

· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, work orders, and blueprints.

· Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment in a maintenance context.

Desired Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, facilities management, or a related field.

· Certification in Maintenance Planning or Scheduling (e.g., Maintenance Planner/Scheduler Certification from SMRP or similar).

· Experience with building automation systems (BAS) or computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) like SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms.

· Project management experience, particularly in planning and scheduling maintenance or capital improvement projects.

· Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma, to optimize maintenance processes and workflows.

Technology Requirements:

· Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for managing work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and resources.

· Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) is a plus.

· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for creating schedules, reports, and presentations.

Other Requirements:

· Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts or weekends, depending on facility needs.

· Strong attention to detail and ensuring that all aspects of the maintenance schedule are accurate and complete.

· The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a high level of organization and prioritization.

· Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in finding solutions to resource allocation or scheduling conflicts.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with maintenance technicians, management, and other departments.
