Director, Operations Planning, Supply Chain & Procurement

We are expanding our team and looking for a Director, Operations Planning, Supply Chain & Procurement to lead our efforts in managing and optimizing our supply chain operations. This role will lead the development and implementation of logistics and supply chain strategics that align with Liberty's supply chain objectives. Leadership will be instrumental in managing key relationships, fostering sustainability, and driving innovation within our logistics and supply chain operations. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact Liberty Steel and Wire's operations as we continue to meet the needs of our customers.

As Director, Operations Planning, Supply Chain & Procurement, you get to:

  • Develop and implement a logistics and supply chain strategy that aligns with Liberty's overall supply chain goals.
  • Develop and manage logistics and supply chain teams across multiple locations, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
  • Optimize logistics and supply chain processes to ensure cost-effective and efficient movement of our production from point of origin to the final destination, with a specific focus on road and rail logistics.
  • Streamline export and import flows to ensure smooth movements while adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with key logistics and supply chain service providers, ensuring high levels of service and competitive pricing coupled with commercially astute contracts.
  • Create and execute integrated strategies for shipping, road, and rail, while emphasizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the sustainability and environmental impact of logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Manage the logistics and supply chain budget and continuously monitor and report on KPIs.
  • Work closely in a matrix organization with stakeholders across the business and functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, procurement, operations, and finance.
  • Additionally, develop and execute transportation strategies, collaborate with government authorities, implement safety protocols, negotiate transportation contracts, leverage technology for supply chain transparency and innovation, continuously optimize transportation routes, and lead cross-functional teams to address challenges, monitor KPIs, and adapt strategies to industry trends and regulations.

You'll be a good fit if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field - Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience working in a logistics organization and/or consulting in logistics; extensive knowledge of global logistics and supply chain processes, network optimization, transport safety and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams across multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement, commercial value creation, and cost optimization.

The pay range for this role is $150,000 - $185,000, including a 35% discretionary target bonus.

This position is based out of our Peoria, IL facility and relocation assistance is available.
