Job Summary

The Manager, Agent Contracting and Commissions (ACC) is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations, strategy, and performance of the agent contracting and commissions function. This individual ensures the accurate setup, maintenance, and compensation of producers in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies and contractual agreements. The Manager works closely with Sales, Compliance, Finance and Operations to strengthen agency relationship and deliver an exceptional agent experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce standards for agent onboarding, licensing, appointments, contracting changes, commission and override assignments, and terminations.
  • Ensure accurate agent record setup and maintenance across all systems
  • Administer agent contracting changes, including updates to agreements, agent hierarchies, compensation schedules and business relationships.
  • Oversee agent termination and offboarding activities, ensuring timely system updates and compliance.
  • Conduct inbound and outbound calls with agents, general agents, regional managers and internal teams to verify all aspects of the appointment, contracting and termination activities.
  • Collaborate with IT to drive automation, improve operational processes, and proactively identify and correct commission discrepancies.
  1. Manage state licensing records by maintaining accurate records, processing forms and fees, tracking renewals, and addressing compliance issues.
  2. Maintain and administer third-party vendor systems and company records ensuring accurate user access, adherence to procedural updates, timely invoice processing, and proper management of agent additions and terminations.
  • Oversee agency communications by ensuring letter templates are current, accurate and properly maintained through updates and deletions.
  • Administer and oversee advanced commission approvals using background check and credit reporting and manage agent debt collection activities in accordance with regulatory and internal financial controls.
  • Manage the payment of persistency and production bonuses based on determinations made by the Vice President, Sales and Distribution.
  • Administer IRS levy processing in accordance with applicable federal regulations and internal controls.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training and audit program, and assist with training new employees as needed.
  • Provide leadership and manage for accountability regularly to ensure strong individual and team performance, development and attendance. Conduct team meetings and touchpoints to ensure impactful communication and facilitate reliability and forward progress.

Anticipated Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Demonstrated experience with insurance agent contracting, licensing, and appointment requirements required; similar experience with compliance-related credentialing may be considered as appropriate alternative
  • Professional insurance designation a plus (e.g. SILA-A, SILA-F, FLMI, CLU, CPCU)
  • Proven managerial experience and leadership skills with the ability to take initiative and drive results
  • Strong ability to motivate and develop employees and while fostering a positive and collaborative working environment
  • Exemplary professional conduct, judgement and presentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while remaining focused, organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly
  • Experience with EXL LifePRO agent administration system preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
