Description

Job Summary

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for providing technical support for the database environments, the organization of the Company’s databases, assessments, implementing new technologies, and providing input on long-term perspectives on the relationship of database technology to business opportunities. Technical support will include owning, tracking, handling requests, resolving incidents, routine maintenance, and working with Senior Database Administrators to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.

Responsibilities

· Monitor, test, troubleshoot, optimize, prevent, and resolve database-related issues

· Assist and adhere to development of standards and guidelines to optimize the management, documentation, access, usage, migration, consolidation and safeguarding of Company data

· Patch management research and installation of Microsoft SQL Server patches, services packs, and updates

· Maintaining a superior level of technology related knowledge by staying abreast of database-technology-related changes and advancements

· Assist with maintaining disaster recovery policies / procedures and in disaster recovery

· Assist software developers to create, evaluate and optimize the performance of database queries

· Implements database-related software, utilities and/or improvements to computer systems that may affect or improve the company’s ability to access and/or use data

· Works with Senior Database Administration to plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard data from accidental or unauthorized usage or modification

· Performing additional duties as assigned by company management

Requirements

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree* in Computer Science or Information Technology, or Associate Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with equivalent of 4 years practical experience

· Preferred Experience: Minimum 4 years practical experience

· Recommended Certifications: Microsoft Certifications (Azure Database Administrator)

· Proficient in Database Administration using Microsoft SQL Server (2014 - 2022)

· Knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues

· Knowledge in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using industry standard tools such as Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools

· Knowledgeable in backups, restores, recovery models, maintenance plans, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, clustering, database mirroring, replication

· Knowledgeable with indexes and index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching

· Knowledgeable of SQL Server tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs)

· Capable of writing and troubleshooting SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints, link servers)

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers, security delegation, SPNs, storage components

· Excellent documentation and communication skills for processes and procedures

Additional Requirements

· Must be available, if required, to periodically assist on a 24-hour on-call basis

· Some travel may be required
