Job Description:

Summary

The Manager of External Funding & Compliance provides leadership and centralized oversight of the College’s externally funded grants portfolio to ensure compliance, accountability, and effective coordination across all phases of the grant lifecycle. This position is responsible for monitoring post-award grant activity, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and funding agency requirements, and reducing institutional financial and audit risk.

The Manager will collaborate across multiple divisions and will supervises the grant development staff and ensures coordinated processes for grant tracking, reporting, and closeout, strengthening institutional infrastructure and protecting critical revenue streams.

Compensation for the Manager- External Funding and Compliance is

$62,358.40 - $71,718.40 annually.

Essential Functions

  • Provide centralized oversight and coordination of the College’s external funding portfolio, including monitoring grant status, timelines, deliverables, and performance across all active awards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized systems and procedures for grant life cycle management, including tracking, reporting, documentation, and communication practices across grant activities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and funding agency requirements, including programmatic, financial, and administrative expectations. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete submission of all required grant reports and maintain documentation to support audit readiness and institutional accountability.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks through proactive monitoring, internal review, and corrective action planning.
  • Oversee grant closeout processes and coordinate with Finance to ensure accurate reconciliation, resolution of outstanding balances, and completion of all financial and programmatic requirements.
  • Supervise grant development staff, including performance management and professional development.
  • Align pre-award and post-award workflows to improve efficiency, clarify roles, and ensure effective coordination across external funding sources.
  • Serve as liaison between Grants, Finance/Accounting, Institutional Effectiveness, Educational Foundation, and project leadership to ensure coordinated grant management practices, supporting the implementation and execution of grant-related priorities established by the Executive Cabinet.
  • Provide guidance and training to project directors and principal investigators to ensure successful grant implementation, compliance, and reporting.
  • Provide training, communication, and process improvement initiatives to strengthen grant management practices, improve compliance, and support institutional capacity for external funding.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business, higher education, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in grant administration, compliance, or sponsored program management.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with state and/or federal grants, including reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple departments or functional areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Experience in higher education grants administration.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of federal grant regulations.
  • Experience with grant financial management.
