Job Description:

Summary

Serve as Head Men’s Soccer Coach. The Illinois Central College Head Men’s Soccer Coach is responsible for leading and managing a successful soccer program at the community college level. The coach will provide leadership, instruction, and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering their personal and athletic development while maintaining a commitment to academic success and sportsmanship.

Compensation for the Head Coach- Men's Soccer is $13,500 for the season.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate, oversee, and provide coaching for all aspects of the men’s soccer program's events, encompassing practices, conditioning, competitions, scouting, recruitment, tournaments, scheduling, and fundraising.
  • Directly engage in recruiting endeavors within the parameters outlined by NJCAA and ICC guidelines, aiming to attract exceptional student athletes to ICC.
  • Serve as a representative of the men’s soccer program when interacting with potential athletes, high schools, other colleges, and relevant athletic associations.
  • Offer individualized academic and athletic support to student athletes as the need arises.
  • Participate in the development of athletic budgets and diligently monitor expenditures, with a specific focus on the men’s soccer program, handling all financial transactions and expenditures associated with the program.
  • Supervise and execute men’s soccer tournaments and camps, which may involve coaching, recruitment, and procurement tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating men’s soccer game schedules, securing officials and essential personnel for games.
  • Provide oversight to assistant men’s soccer coaches, guiding them in various managerial responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the Athletics Director in evaluating the overall progress of the program.
  • Ensure strict adherence to NJCAA bylaws within the program's operations.
  • Collaborate with the Sports Information Director managing the promotion of men’s soccer programs and activities through effective publicity efforts, establishing and maintaining productive connections with local media to enhance Cougar men’s soccer's visibility.
  • Contribute to the administration of the Athlete Monitoring Program in support of men’s soccer student athletes.
  • Set up and arrange the field/gym and equipment as required for events, practices, conditioning sessions, and games.
  • Coordinate transportation of the team to events, games, and tournaments whenever necessary.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field AND/OR Three years of experience coaching high school, collegiate, or club men’s soccer.
  • High School or Collegiate playing experience.
  • Knowledge of teaching and coaching methods and/or principles.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA/NCAA eligibility guidelines.
  • Strong Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Strong Presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • CPR/AED (defibrillation) certification.
